Discovery: Jewish Education

In a changing and uncertain Jewish world, the preservation of Jewish traditions and the transmission of identity and knowledge from generation to generation are by no means a foregone conclusion.

International efforts to stem the trends of assimilation and Jewish illiteracy are becoming increasingly centered on education. As the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency resolved in June 1995, "Jewish Zionist education is a critical aspect of Jewish continuity and identity."

Jewish Agency initiatives currently focus on providing meaningful programs in Israel for teenagers and young adults from abroad, training teachers and informal education workers, developing curricula and teaching materials, and exploring new approaches to Jewish education.
