the campaign to help the Kosovo refugees during
Pesach, 1999. The campaign began at the initiative of the Chairman of the Jewish
Agency Executive, Sallai Meridor. At that time, the
Jewish Agency sent an airlift comprising twelve
airplanes carrying more than 120 tons of humanitarian
aid.
On April 12, 1999, in accordance with a government decision, the Jewish Agency began bringing refugees to Israel.
For 40 young adults, who left the war torn Yugoslavia, and who have spent the last few weeks in Budapest, Hungary, the Jewish Agency organized a two week pilot trip to Israel. The aim of the visit was to examine absorption possibilities.
