Some 34,000 olim during past year

Approximately 34,000 immigrants arrived in Israel during the Jewish year 5762, according to the Jewish Agency for Israel. Of these, 21,600 are from the former Soviet Union, 4,100 from Argentina, 3,000 from Ethiopia, 1,700 from France, and 1,500 from the United States. Before the start of the New Year later this week, an additional 937 immigrants are expected to arrive in Israel, the Jewish Agency said.
