YOUTH FUTURES NEWS
Israel National Insurance Institute (NII) Joins Youth Futures Program
On June 17, 2008 the NII approved an allocation of 3 million NIS per year for the Youth Futures program, and has become the newest Israeli partner in the program. This generous budget will enable us to put the next stage of Youth Futures into action: creating an educational flow, which means that the children participating in the program will be treated from elementary school age until graduation from high school. Introduction - Leah Golan
Shalom all,
I'm pleased to send you the latest copy of our Youth Futures Newsletter. We are now operating in 28 different municipalities throughout Israel - the latest being Maalot and Horfeish – where we are also working with the non-Jewish communities.
The Youth Futures newest and very valuable partner is the National Insurance Institute of Israel. The support of the NII national board and executive is extremely vital to the program's future success and longevity.
I would also like to note the progress we've made with the Family Futures program which is being established in 9 locations in the Negev and the Galilee. This project takes the core principal of Youth Futures which is the Trustee's work, and expands it to the child's entire family. Special trustees have been recruited and trained to work with these parents on various levels for the benefit of the children and the entire family unit.
We are very grateful to the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit for providing funds and their vision for the Family Futures program as an added element of Youth Futures. We are also grateful to each and every one of our overseas and Israeli partners, who are helping to write the Youth Futures success story.
Warm regards,
Leah Golan

Family Futures
Dear Friends,
Three years of experience in the Youth Futures program have shown that it is not enough to merely work with children in order to generate change in their lives; it is also necessary to work with parents in order to provide their children with the atmosphere and responses needed for their proper growth and development.
The Family Futures program was designed to answer this need and create a foundation of meaningful support for parents and their children, foster an improved connection between parents and the organizations that treat their children, create a network of mutual support among participants in the program, help parents fulfill themselves as human beings and thereby become better parents and grow local forces of parents and professionals in struggling northern and southern Israeli communities. Family Futures: Mother Bolsters Child's Social Standing
Simon found it difficult to make friends in school. His mother Sigal prepared pancakes together with Simon and his classmates in a "Family Futures" activity that catalyzed positive interaction between Simon and his peers.
