TOMMOROW: 300 NEW IMMIGRANTS IN JERUSALEM WILL LEARN ABOUT POLICE
OPERATIONS AND PROCEDURES AS PART OF JEWISH AGENCY PREPARATIONS FOR A
POSSIBLE U.S. ATTACK ON IRAQ
Tomorrow (30 September) some 300 hundred recently-arrived immigrants
residing in the Jewish Agency's Beit Canada Absorption Center will spend a
day learning about Israel Police operations and procedures.
This event is conducted in the context of Agency Chairman Sallai Meridor's
directive to Agency Director General Giora Romm to prepare for a possible
U.S. attack on Iraq. Romm's preparations will encompass both information
management and personal security. Approximately 10,000 new immigrants,
who arrived in recent months, are currently residing in Jewish Agency
absorption centers.
Tomorrow's event will improve the immigrants' understanding of security
and strengthen their ties with the community in which they reside. Police
officers will demonstrate security devices, such as bomb disposal squad
vehicles, and the sappers' robot. In addition, the officers will present
police canine and mounted units, and describe Civil Guard patrols.
The Jewish Agency's Jerusalem Region, together with Talpiot's Beit
Lazarus community center and the Community and Civil Guard division of the
Police, are organizing tomorrow's event.
The Press is invited to cover this demonstration tomorrow (30 September)
at 17:00 at 27 Raziel St., Talpiot Mizrach Jerusalem
